EDGE Technologies approached Mapiq to implement solutions that increased the productivity of every employee, consequently helping attract and retain the current workforce. The building in Amsterdam had to become the blueprint for all new EDGE buildings coming up in London, Boston, New York, Berlin, and Hamburg.
Given the fierce competition in hiring the right talent, EDGE Olympic needed to get creative to hire the best of the best. Here are some general key issues in talent engagement:
- Top performers are two to three times more valuable than an average employee (VitalSmarts, 2017).
- 28% rise in unrealized revenues due to skills shortages since 2018 (PWC, 2019)
- Skill shortage generates losses of €414 billion among private businesses alone (PWC, 2019)
The Mapiq solution
Together with EDGE Technologies, we made sure that anyone in the EDGE building strongly feels that every element of the smart office is created to optimally support their well-being.
The enforcement of positivity starts right at the entrance, where big touchscreens welcome visitors. Similar displays are placed strategically throughout the entire building to guide employees through their workday smoothly. Displays next to every meeting room clarify the rooms’ availability and the monitor in the atrium shows all upcoming yoga classes.
The office is full of comfortable corners where people can meet. Mapiq enables everyone to easily and quickly book those spaces via their mobile phone. The same app enables teams to easily find and interact with each other in the dynamic atrium.
The new generation loves the autonomy of a wide selection of options, but they hate choosing. That is why Mapiq integrated a feature in the EDGE Olympic system that shows the perfect workspace fit for every type of activity. When a favorite room is not available, Mapiq offers suggestions that meet the users’ needs and nudges them in the right direction.
To contribute to the goal of creating a community feeling, we implemented solutions that let employees easily find each other in the building. Everything in the smart office is designed with features to control the office with a smartphone, giving millennials the autonomy they need to create a frictionless workday.
